Singing Tuition and Vocal Coaching
At his private studio in London, William is in demand as a singing teacher and vocal coach for established opera soloists, professional musical theatre singers, actors, dancers and cabaret acts. Many travel from all over the UK and mainland Europe to work with him, drawing on his vast experience in all aspects of the profession.
William is the voice consultant and vocal coach at Marlowes Agency (music theatre, film and TV agent), where he regularly prepares clients for auditions in London's West End and beyond. An able pianist and accompanist he also records accompaniments for his clients as practise aids and often plays for auditions. His Marlowes Agency clients are currently appearing in; The Lion King, Rock of Ages, Starlight Express, Dancing in the Streets, Chicago, Cats, Grease, Wicked, We Will Rock You, and on leading cruise lines.
He also has a roster of private clients from the world of opera.
In recent seasons he has prepared clients for roles with leading opera companies including; La Monnaie, Dutch National Opera, Dresden Oper, Opera de Lyon,
Teatro Real Madrid, Frankfurt Oper, Polish National Opera, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Glyndebourne, and Opera Holland Park in London.
William also gives regular masterclasses and workshops in Musical Theatre and Classical singing, for advanced students and young professionals. Recent work includes; masterclasses and coaching at the University of York (MT and classical), masterclassess at the London College of Music in opera, musical theatre, and performance workshops, visits to Warsaw (as visiting professor of voice) at the Polish National Opera Young Artists Programme, and his annual summer masterclasses in London with various collaborators, Emmaneule Mollica, Elizabeth Rowe (ROH), and Stuart Morley MD (We Will Rock You, Elf, Big, Wicked, and the Royal Academy of Music).
William is also active as an adjudicator and as an assessor at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both Musical Theatre and classical singing. He is an external assessor for Royal Holloway, University of London in MT and classical singing and is former Head of Academic Practice at The Brighton Academy of performing arts (delivering Bath Spa University degrees).
William currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for the
undergraduate Cabaret Performance degree programmes at the University of Chichester
Conservatoire which he has devised. These are the first courses of their kind in the UK in partnership
with leading agencies and industry professionals.

William's aim with all his students is to inspire them to be the best possible version of themselves as both singer and stage performer.
This can be achieved through a solid technical foundation in breath support, allied to easy vocal emission through a firm focus on accessing resonance. He is also able to offer first-hand advice and expertise on how to approach a career in many areas of the current profession, drawing on the invaluable experience gained by his current work in the profession and over more than thirty years.

William was recently awarded Associateship (ARAM) in the Royal Academy of Music 2020 honours
list for a significant contribution to the music profession.
William is a Fellow of the London College of Music, and also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and has been a member of Equity, the UK trade union for professional performers, since 1990.
